Integrated Therapies, Health Services & Collaborative Care

Students at Cotting work hard to achieve their greatest level of independence. Our highly skilled, multidisciplinary team works equally as hard to support their health and academic growth, addressing a variety of specialized needs. Team members expertly adapt to each student’s progress, strengths and service delivery needs so they can provide the highest quality of appropriate services to best support success.

Every member of Cotting’s Clinical Team acts to support the whole community. Our Health Services, Behavioral Health and Feeding Teams attends to each student, providing specialized care for those who need a more tailored approach. Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Communication Therapists, Speech Language Therapists, Teachers of the Visually Impaired, Assistive Technologists and Reading Specialists provide direct services as outlined on a student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Our Clinical Team includes:

  • Assistive Technology
  • Behavioral Health
  • Communication Therapy (Speech Language Therapy)
  • Health Services
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Reading Specialists
  • Vision Services

Our Collaborative Care Model

Through our Collaborative Care Model, we take a holistic approach to addressing students’ goals. Working together with parents, teachers and the students themselves, we carefully consider their needs in an integrated manner rather than through separate specialty lenses. In this way the team is able to determine the optimum treatment plan for the student while also ensuring that they are spending enough time in the classroom to meet their academic and social goals. The process is responsive to student strengths and needs in the context of a comprehensive educational program, and this holistic approach enables all team members to support the student in growing towards their maximum potential for independence in academics and life.

Cotting offers a variety of amenities on campus, intended to support students’ overall health and facilitate care with their parents through our partnership with outside vendors, including:

  • Seamark Vision Clinic in partnership with the New England College of Optometry
  • Dental Clinic in partnership with Tufts University of Dental Medicine
  • Adjunct Therapy Clinic in partnership with area mobility vendors and prosthetic/orthotic specialists
