Is Cotting a Good Fit For Your Student?

Cotting School meets the unique needs of students between the ages of 3-22 with a broad range of learning and communication disabilities, physical challenges and complex medical conditions. Rather than evaluate student’s through the lens of their diagnosis, our team assesses each students’ individual skills and goals to be sure we can help them reach their potential.

A typical Cotting student may:

  • Benefit from an interdisciplinary Collaborative Care approach that ensures the child’s academic, therapeutic, social and health care needs are all being addressed in tandem
  • Have moderate to severe learning disabilities
  • Have moderate to severe communication needs
  • Benefit from Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Have complex medical conditions that require Health Services
  • Have the opportunity to transition between activities and/or locations throughout the day

Our strength is our diversity. The students we serve present with more than 50 different diagnoses, including but not limited to:

Once we receive a referral for a student, our Admissions Team carefully and thoroughly evaluates whether the structure and supports Cotting offers would be a good fit for the student. Our program is not designed to accommodate students who require 1:1 support throughout the school day, classroom-based nursing or who demonstrate a high level of unsafe or potentially dangerous behavior toward themselves or others.
