Cotting Policy Reminder: Calling Out of School

Is your Cotting student 18 years or older? Do they call themselves out of school when they will be absent? We are thrilled to support the growth of self-advocacy in our students, but since these adult students are still in school, we must continue to ensure that their parents are aware of and approve of these absences.

To help us meet this policy requirement, please:

1. Make the absence call or email yourself
2. If your adult student is calling in an absence, make a second call or email to confirm your awareness/approval of the absence
3. Make an agreement with your student to include you (parent/guardian) in their call or email about an absence from Cotting

PLEASE NOTE: Even if your adult student is their own guardian because they are at Cotting School, we still need to know their parents are aware of and approve absences.
