An Update from Health Services to Stay Healthy!

Dear Parent or Guardian,

This health notice is to inform you that there has been an increase in flu, COVID and myriad upper respiratory viruses within the community at large and the Cotting community. To prevent widespread illness in the school, we ask that you consider taking  the following steps:

  • Monitor closely for cold/flu symptoms: sore throat, headache, body aches, congestion, fever, fatigue
  • If there is a fever present, stay home until fever-free for 24 hours without medication
  • If your Cotting student develops symptoms, test for COVID at home FREE TESTS AVAILABLE HERE
  • If symptoms persist or worsen over ensuing days, a second test is recommended
  • If positive, email Nurse Becky or Nurse Jenna for a return-to-school plan

Reminders to help prevent the spread of illness:

  • Wash hands frequently
  • Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth
  • Cover mouth and nose with a paper tissue when sneezing or coughing, throw it away and then wash hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Consider masking in crowded indoor spaces during cold and flu season

FAQ: What if a family member tests positive?
ANSWER: Quarantine is not required for those exposed–even in the same household. Continue to monitor for symptoms and test as indicated.
