The Francis Joy Cotting Circle

In 1999, the Trustees voted to establish the Francis Joy Cotting Circle to honor a man who, challenged by disability himself, served as Board Chair for fifteen critical years, established the School’s endowment, and inspired many students to achieve their highest academic and vocational potential.

By becoming a member of the Francis Joy Cotting Circle, you are making an investment in the future of Cotting School. Gifts of all sizes are appreciated.

Is there an age restriction to become a member of the Francis Joy Cotting Circle?

No, it is never too early to begin thinking about and planning your estate, regardless of age, occupation, or financial means. In fact, almost 50% of bequest intentions are created by people under age 55.

What do I receive for becoming a member of the Francis Joy Cotting Circle?

Members are invited to special events. Also, all Francis Joy Cotting Circle members are recognized each year in the Cotting School Annual Report. What types of assets can I use to fund a planned gift? You may use a number of different assets to fund your planned gift including:

  • Cash
  • Securities (stocks, bonds, and closely-held stock)
  • Real Estate
  • Life Insurance
  • Tangible Personal Property

How can I become a member of the Francis Joy Cotting Circle?

There are many ways in which you may leave your own lasting legacy at Cotting School.

  • Bequest
    Include a provision in your will naming Cotting School as a beneficiary of your estate. Francis Joy Cotting Circle members have made provisions for a wide range of gifts to Cotting School.
  • Retirement
    Plan Name Cotting School as a beneficiary of your 401(k), IRA or other qualified plan.
  • Life Insurance
    Name Cotting School as one of your beneficiaries.
  • Charitable Gift Annuity
    In exchange for your gift of $10,000 or more, you can receive income for life. This charitable gift arrangement enables you to receive income for life while giving to Cotting. Upon your death, the remainder is given to Cotting School.
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
    A charitable remainder trust can help you create a stream of income for yourself or loved ones, while allowing you to designate the remainder to your favorite organizations, including Cotting School. Contact us to learn how you might meet your financial and charitable goals with a charitable remainder trust.
  • Do I need to give money now to obtain membership?
    No, you do not necessarily need to give funds now to be a member of the Francis Joy Cotting Circle, depending on the planned giving arrangement you choose. Your planned gift will help to meet Cotting’s long-term financial goals.
  • Can I remain anonymous in the Francis Joy Cotting Circle?
    Cotting School respects your privacy and will allow you to choose how you would like to be recognized as a member of the Francis Joy Cotting Circle.
