About Performing Arts
The performing arts program is designed to promote students’ creativity, self-expression, self and body awareness, critical thinking, and an overall appreciation for various types of music and theater production. Students experience the performing arts through a variety of means including singing, playing instruments, expressive movement, creative writing and drawing, dramatizations, improvisation, and active listening activities. All help to inspire interest in the performing arts, while giving students a deeper understanding of an important aspect of the world around them and its people. A variety of adaptive equipment and high and low technical devices are used, as well as the help of occupational and communication therapists, to help provide meaningful experiences for all students.
Students in performing arts class are involved in all aspects of the creative process to reinforce their individual strengths.
