About Industrial Arts

The Industrial Arts (woodworking) Program is designed to give students a basic knowledge of the properties of wood and the tools necessary to cut and shape it into a useful product. Based upon their capabilities, students start with the most basic hand tools and progress to more complex hand and power tools. Students are encouraged to focus on developing good work habits and attitudes. Equipment and projects are chosen specifically for the abilities and interests of shop students. Recent projects have included birdhouses, chessboards, and a bench.

The school offers a variety of enrichment classes in addition to industrial arts, including music, adaptive physical education, library/media, vocational workshop (home economics), and after school extra-curricular activities.
