About Community Inclusion

Community Inclusion trips are an integral part of classroom instruction. These off-campus activities, along with preparation and review lessons, are extensions of both the academic and functional curriculum.  Community Inclusion allows our students to experience opportunities for practical application of classroom skills in a variety of natural settings. Taking students off-campus with regularity allows our faculty to create opportunities for spontaneous social interaction, to increase experience with uncontrolled environments, to begin to bridge the gap between school and community, and to provide the outside community with opportunities to learn about students with disabilities.
