Prom

When and where does it take place?

  • Cotting School’s annual prom usually takes place on the third Friday of May and runs from 7-9 p.m.
  • We hold our prom on Cotting campus. Our faculty and staff, with support from parents and guardians, transform the dining room into a beautifully decorated dance space each year. After walking the red carpet on their way in, student enjoy light refreshments and dancing to music dj’d by a Cotting staff member—they can even request their favorite songs!

Who can go on to prom?

  • All Upper School and Cpstone students are eligible to participate in Cotting’s prom. Students may attend with a date, by themselves or as part of a larger group.

Other things to know:

  • Students are encouraged to dress up for the prom in whatever way is comfortable and makes them feel good about themselves. This might mean they wear a formal dress, makeup and heels or a tuxedo tee shirt with jeans. We celebrate each individual student’s taste in fashion.
  • We invite parents and other members of the Cotting community to watch students as they arrive to greet their friends, walk the red carpet and get their photo taken.
  • Once students are inside, our staff chaperones take over to help the students enjoy themselves and dance the night away. During the event, designated staff members and Cotting nurses will be available to support students’ personal care.
  • While our older students enjoy their special night at prom, we invite the parents and guardians of all of our students (regardless of age) to attend an adults-only gathering in the Cotting Campus Center. It’s a great opportunity to get to enjoy each other’s company before the end of the school year.
