Can you help my son’s/daughter’s teachers?
Yes, we provide our services with the student’s current educational setting so that we can support all team members in using technology in the most effective and efficient manor.
(top)Can I (the parent or home care provider) come to the sessions/training?
Different teams of people have different relationships and different base levels of knowledge. Sometimes it works very well for everyone to be trained together, other times we provided separate trainings. This allows us to set the pace for learning in an environment that is comfortable for everyone.
(top)What do I need to do to get you into my child’s school, the meeting is in 10 minutes?
We would be happy to provide you with a brochure (print or electronic) to share information about our services with your team. Please ask your team chair to contact us so that we can share information about our services directly with the district.
(top)Do you write session notes each visit/quarterly progress reports, etc.?
We work to keep the lines of communication open between the consulting therapist, school team and family. Our experience is that the best method for that is email to regular team members. The frequency of communication varies team to team. We work with the school staff to create IEPs that can be reported on by team members who see students using the skills throughout the school week rather than just isolated consultation sessions.
(top)How often to you provide services?
Service frequency is a team decision; there is not one right answer. We might provide an hour or two a week or an hour or two a year depending on the needs of the student and team.
(top)Can you help me get my child placed at Cotting?
Cotting Consulting supports students within their current school placement outside of Cotting School. Elizabeth Russell handles admission information, questions and concerns.
(top)Contracts/Fees
Who pays for your services?
We contract directly with the student’s public school, or in some cases their educational placement.
(top)What does an evaluation cost?
That depends what type of services that are needed and the complexity of the case.
(top)What is the travel fee and what does it cover?
The travel fee varies based on the distance/time travel needed to go from Lexington to the student’s school. The fee covers mileage, expenses and therapist time. Hourly rate charges are not applied to travel time.
(top)Do you accept insurance?
No, we do not accept insurance.
(top)Can I private pay for services?
We contract directly with the public school system. Our experience is that this facilitates the best relationships with school service providers.
