Transition – New Look, Same Vision!

Transition – New Look, Same Vision!

Project Bridges and Transition Services remain a bedrock of our Cotting curriculum, even as we continue to reimagine the programs within COVID-19 parameters. Students are keeping busy learning all about jobs, building relationships with colleagues, and self-advocacy among other topics. Nothing beats getting out into the community, but the staff and students have managed to build a fun, progressive new look for the program! Several students are busy with jobs around the school, including sorting, filing, jewelry assembly, and building hygiene kits to donate to local agencies. Others are offering a hand with sanding projects in the Industrial Arts classroom,... Read More

Transition Boarding at HOPEhouse

Transition Boarding at HOPEhouse

For the residents of HOPEhouse – Cotting School’s five-day transition boarding program for students ages 17-22 – it’s business as usual these days. Adjusting to their “bubble” took some time, but no one used the pandemic as an excuse. At HOPEhouse, it’s all about creating and pursuing a vision for the future. Post-secondary education, employment, and adult-living opportunities are the three primary foci from which residents choose to envision their future beyond Cotting. Successful HOPEhouse students are motivated to be independent and interested in working with the staff to design a program that works for them. Plans include work, higher... Read More

A Wall of Honor at Cotting School

A Wall of Honor at Cotting School

The hallmark of Cotting School’s tradition of innovation and excellence rests in our extraordinary faculty and staff. Each day, professionals commit themselves to providing our students with the educational, therapeutic, medical and support services needed to increase student independence while creating a “community of belonging.” A new Cotting Wall of Honor, located in our school’s history foyer, recognizes individuals who have given twenty years of exemplary service. This plaque is displayed to honor those past and current dedicated individuals who have reached this significant milestone. (View the Cotting School Wall of Honor up close, here.)

Meet Cotting School’s Boston College PULSE interns

Meet Cotting School’s Boston College PULSE interns

Cotting School has a unique relationship with students at Boston College who participate in the PULSE program. PULSE educates students about social injustice by putting them into direct contact with marginalized populations and social change organizations and by encouraging discussion on classic and contemporary works of philosophy and theology. Students in the program are placed at organizations all over the Greater Boston area. Cotting is a new partner with PULSE this year and this partnership looks a little different than it would have in normal years – especially for those students helping with the Circle of Friends and Project Bridges...
