Information From Cotting School
Dear Cotting Families,
The increased talk of the COVID vaccine has been a glimmer of positive news amid the recent surge of cases. We have been learning a lot about the vaccine and the options available to us to offer it to our community when it becomes available to us.
Because we are blessed with such a competent Medical team and a great facility, we are pursuing the option of administer the vaccine ourselves on our campus. We have been advised that this is the safest and most efficient way to provide the vaccine to all eligible members of the Cotting Community.
All staff, volunteers and students ages 18 and over will be eligible for this clinic. We will be communicating additional information to the families of those students who are 18+ very shortly. Our goal is to provide as much information about the vaccine and all of the paperwork to families ahead of time so that students and families have a chance to learn as much as possible, ask questions and feel prepared for that time when we receive our supply. We don’t know when that might be, and we may not have a lot of notice.
We have been informed that we will receive the Moderna vaccine, which is why the rollout is limited to students and staff over the age of 18. The Moderna vaccine is approved only for individuals 18 years of age or older, while the Pfizer vaccine is approved for individuals 16 and over. We will have separate information for students 16-18 years of age about how to get access to the Pfizer vaccine once the Cotting community is eligible. We are awaiting more clarification from the state.
For more information, please refer to the Cotting ConnectEd message sent to all families on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 3:54 pm, or contact Michele Passanisi in the Cotting Medical Department at mpassanis@cotting.org.
Sincerely,
Bridget Irish
