Information From Cotting School
Wishing you all a Warm and Safe Thanksgiving holiday!
As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holidays, please remember that our plans while we are away from Cotting have ramifications for our community in ways they never have before. As you make your holiday plans, both in terms of travel and with whom you gather, please consider how those plans will impact the Cotting School community.
Schedule Reminder!
The week after Thanksgiving, Monday, November 30 – Friday, December 4, will now be a fully-remote week for all students. This includes the Cotting School day program and HOPEhouse.
A message from the Cotting Medical Department:
Parents, we need your help!
Mornings are very busy at Cotting and we are working hard to identify if/how students will be coming to school and trying to carefully track each person in our community who has symptoms consistent with Covid 19.
Please submit a daily attestation form even if your child will be absent from Cotting. (This does not apply to our remote-only students.) There is a place to indicate whether or not they will participate remotely. You can also indicate whether or not they are displaying any symptoms that could be Covid 19. This information is helpful to other departments throughout the school in addition to the classroom staff. As an added layer of protection, a member of the Medical Department may reach out to you to follow up for more information.
Thank you for doing your part in keeping our Community safe and Healthy.

Caregiving Around the Clock: Announcing a New Series with the Department of Developmental Services
National Family Caregivers Month – celebrated each November – is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country, a time to celebrate the contributions of caregivers and provide them with tools that they need. Across Massachusetts, more than 18,000 families are caring for a family member with an intellectual or developmental disability in the home. More than 9,000 of these family members are adults.
The Department of Developmental Services has joined with The Arc of Massachusetts to provide information, resources, support, and strategies to help caregivers stay strong and resilient.
This year’s theme, Caregiving Around the Clock, certainly brings light to how caregivers have worked tirelessly in providing for loved ones during the pandemic. This series will begin in November and extend through March 2021. Future topics for February and March are forthcoming. Many sessions will also be recorded and made available on demand via YouTube if you are unable to attend.
