On October 14th, we welcomed a limited number of guests for an outdoor Groundbreaking Ceremony (and close to 100 special guests, virtually, via video link)!

Cotting PTO and PAC meetings are coming up next Friday, October 23:
PTO meeting starts at 8:30 am
PAC meeting starts at 9:30 am

The Cotting PTO and PAC meetings take place one Friday a month. The PTO meets at 8:30 am and the PAC meets at 9:30 am. Save the dates for upcoming meetings:

Sign Up for Family Photo Day (outdoors) at Cotting School!
We’d love to take your picture! Sign up to stop by Cotting School on Saturday, November 7 (with a rain date of Saturday, November 14)! We’ll welcome Cotting families during scheduled 1/2 hour time slots for a brief photo shoot! Our favorite professional photographer will be joined by a few Cotting Staff to welcome you to our safe, outdoor set-up where you can stop for a family photo. There will be optional video and interview stations as well so that you can share your Cotting thoughts with us!
Indicate your interest and your time preferences here, and we will be back in touch with your scheduled time slot prior to Nov. 7.
Photos taken may be used in upcoming Cotting School publications and we will share digital copies of your family photo(s) with you for your use!
Important Notes:
  • This event is completely optional
  • Masks and social distancing in effect: masks should be worn, but can be taken off for the photo
  • All students must have an up-to-date photo permission form signed and returned to Cotting before participating
  • We ask all families who chose to participate to keep their photo session and visit to campus brief.
Parents, grandparents, other family and friends:
We hope you will join the MAAPS Action Network. MAAPS, our trade association, is a powerful voice, an effective advocate for students at Cotting School. They reach leaders at all levels of government amplifying our message that students with special needs need proper resources to succeed. Bonus: the MAAPS Action Network won’t crowd your inbox or sell your contact information.

Drive Through Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular
Providence, RI, through November 1st, 2020, 6:30 – 11 p.m. This year the Roger Williams Zoo will offer a Drive-Thru version of their Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular.
  • Celebrate Special Places while staying safe inside your car enjoying thousands of intricately carved pumpkins as you immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the Halloween season.
  • Tickets are online sales ONLY and sold for each half hour. Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is open rain or shine. NO REFUNDS OR RESCHEDULING.

* Kathleen Kelly is from the Massachusetts Rehab Commission and is a Student Benefits Counselor for transition age youth and their families.
* Mary Rubenis is the Attainable Outreach Manager at the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority. She is a member of the College Planning team at MEFA and assists families and school professionals with college planning, financial aid and savings plans.

Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council State Plan Input Public Forums
We want to hear from you!
The Council is hosting virtual Public Forums to help determine its goals and activities over its next 5-year State planning cycle. Individuals with developmental disabilities (DD), their families and other community members are invited to voice their thoughts on the critical issues and barriers they face in Massachusetts.

“Dance uses the body to tell stories and process emotions, and we deserve to be able to participate in that,” says Abilities Dance’s founding Executive Director Ellice Patterson. Her visionary company, which brings together professional dancers with and without disabilities and champions artists of color and queer artists, makes its Celebrity Series Neighborhood Arts debut with a program that centers and celebrates the diversity of human movement.
