We are at it again! We have another Cotting School book give-away that is near and dear to us. We are proud to introduce you to “Rescue and Jessica: A Life-Changing Friendship”.
For students at Cotting School, the story of “Rescue and Jessica” is a powerful one as it introduces readers to a person with a disability. For some readers this might be the first time they are introduced to someone with a disability. The story also provides insights into themes that are relevant to our students and themes that shed light on their stories, which include relying on others for support, being brave, undergoing surgeries, feeling scared, and the very important theme of friendship!
Since adding this book to our classrooms, and to the library at Cotting School, our teachers and students have been excitedly adapting the book and creating new ways to read and use the book. In a post on our Facebook page, you can see examples of some of the ways our teachers have utilized and adapted the book!
Knowing that a portion of the proceeds from “Rescue and Jessica: A Life-Changing Friendship” go directly to NEADS, we are proud to recommend this book and to announce our social media campaign to raffle off five free copies of the book! To participate in the book raffle, follow Cotting School’s Facebook page where we’ll post details and announce winners!
Here are some fun facts you might not know! Dr. Patrick Downes, co-author of “Rescue and Jessica”, is a Cotting School Trustee. In 2016 Patrick welcomed the Cotting School Faculty and Staff back to school by providing an inspiring opening of school address especially for the Cotting School community. Also, in 2017 Patrick and Deborah (his Mom!) provided the keynote address at Cotting’s annual Conference.
