The school year is officially underway! Our students are busy getting adjusted to their new classrooms, teachers, and friends. For 46 of our students, spending time each week at one of 28 job sites will become a part of their weekly schedule beginning this week. Mike Teuber, who has worked as a classroom teacher at Cotting for 17 years (8 years in the Upper School), is now Director of Transition Services and oversees the Project Bridges program at Cotting. “Specials” at Cotting School, which include Music, Art, and Technology (among many others) are important elements of our curriculum, and enhance our students’ ability to achieve their highest potential. This morning marked the beginning of yet another year at Cotting School! Our entire staff gathered for orientation this morning to prepare for the students’ arrival next Wednesday. We were fortunate to hear from Patrick Downes, a friend to Cotting and also a Boston Marathon bombing survivor, who shared his story of recovering from this tragedy. He conveyed his deep appreciation for caregivers, including the doctors, nurses, therapists, prostheticists, friends, and family who have supported his journey to recovery, which continues today.
