Laura began her career in 2008 as a Classroom Teacher. She’s worked in both the Upper School and Cotting’s unique Transition Classroom where she worked with students to put their knowledge to use in community settings.
As Cotting’s first Thorndike Fellow, Laura gathered information about all of Cotting’s community inclusion experiences and developed comprehensive plans and logistical information for use across the program. Currently, Laura is responsible for Project Bridges, our students’ off campus internship program. Laura believes in each student’s ability to make meaningful contributions.
Laura recently developed a Project Bridges presentation highlighting the program’s methodology.
There are many take-aways in the presentation that will be useful to parents and professionals looking to gain insights into community work experiences for students with disabilities. This community work experience tip sheet references some of the key points of the presentation.
