Cotting School Joins Mass. Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence
Cotting School has always been a place where children, families and staff feel safe. As educational leaders, it is our responsibility to be a voice for keeping students safe not only at our school, but in their home communities as well.
Therefore, Cotting School has joined the Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence. (http://mapreventgunviolence.org)
According to their website, “The Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence started in 2013 after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. As an umbrella organization, the Coalition brings together organizations and institutions across MA to end the epidemic of gun violence that plagues our communities and takes the lives of so many of our citizens. Through education, advocacy and holding those in power accountable, we will bring about real change that will lessen the likelihood of someone you love becoming a victim of gun violence.”
Recent data from the Children’s Defense Fund states than American children and teens are 17 times more likely to die from gun violence than children and teens in 25 other countries combined.
