For much of the 20th century, cultural and architectural barriers limited access for students with disabilities. Cotting School met the educational and therapeutic needs of children in metropolitan Boston. In the early years, the school served students with polio or Potts Disease or young children injured in factories prior to child labor laws. The above photo was taken in the 1950s.
