MIDDLE SCHOOL Via the stairs, the two story ramp or the elevator, the move to the second floor is an important stride toward independence. Classes are still highly structured and students remain with the same group for most of the day. Yet, here the children begin to explore outside interests and concentrate on the skills of daily living. At the middle school, faculty effort shifts from primarily nurturing social and emotional development to fostering emerging maturity. There is a transition from playgroup activity to introducing daily life skills.
